Being a total “pinning” addict I decided to write a post about the awesomeness that is Pinterest. I’ve mentioned it a few times on my Facebook page and have had many people ask about it so I decided what better way to share the fun than show you exactly what I love about it.
So this is an example of what you’ll see when you join Pinterest:

And here is a description of Pinterest directly from their website: Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes. Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. To get started, request an invite.
You’ve seen inspiration boards, right? Like this one:
So how do you get started? You simply develop a board, give it a name and start “pinning!” When you find something on the internet you click the “pin it” button (which you’ll get when you install the program) and it will bring up all the pictures on the web page. You pick the picture you want, assign it to the appropriate board and you’re done!
The best part about it is that it brings in the fun of social networking all at the same time. You can see what other people are pinning and if you like their board (or all of their boards) then you can follow them. You can also comment on each other’s pins and tag someone if a pin reminds you of them. It’s just a great way to channel your ideas, get great ideas and build of each other’s creativity.
I have number of boards covering topics such as: fashion, beauty, recipes, desserts, dream home ideas, DIY ideas, holiday decorating, fitness inspiration etc, etc, etc.
The possibilities are truly endless. Here are a few great pins I’ve found:

As I said, endless possibilities!
The last thing to mention is that you have to have an “invite” to join Pinterest. I think this is just a marketing ploy for the purpose of conveying some “exclusivity.” Perhaps it is also for the purpose of weeding out spam and people who just want to sell their product on Pinterest. Either way you can go to the website and request an invite (they will email you one within a couple hours) or I will happily send you one.
